Before and After School Care for School Aged Children

The Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe prioritizes care for children ages 0 – 5, based on the enrollment priorities outlined in Chapter 1002.87 Florida Statutes.   Care for school age children is provided based on funding availability.  At the present time there is no funding in Miami-Dade to serve new school aged children from working families that are economically disadvantaged, as defined in Chapter 1002.87, Florida Statutes. Under Florida law, families with school aged children younger than age 13 can still register the children on the waiting list, but priority is given to children 0 – 5.  Families can obtain information about available summer and before and after school care programs in Miami-Dade from The Children’s Trust Summer and After School Programs Guide and by visiting the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Fee-Based Before and After School Care Programs webpage.
